Ovulus?
Has any one here ever heard of the Ovulus? Here's a link to the manufacturers page:

http://www.digitaldowsing.com/Ovilus1.htm

If anyone has used it, please post what your experience was with it and what your opinion of it is.

Thanks very much

RE: Ovulus?
Never heard of it, nor would I spend my money on it.

There are many many references in the manual downloadable at the bottom of the page that make statements that the company that produces the Ovulus claim it's for "Entertainment Purposes Only". That of course doesn't mean it won't do what you think it might do, just that if it doesn't you're out the $199 with no recourse to get your money refunded. From what I see in the manual the device contains a speech module with a 512 word vocabulary. It appears some sort of external energy, ie EMF level triggers the module to say a specific word (or Phonemes when in the phonetics mode). So if you had it set to the Phonetics Mode and you're walking down the street when suddenly your Ovulus blurts out, "Cheesburger!". Ghost? Any kind of paranormal activity occurring around you? Most likely not and it proves nothing. It could be the traffic signal light that you walked by when it blurted out that triggered it. Why would a spirit need a limited vocabulary to communicate with you? And then before it could it would have to learn which words/phonemes were available to it through your device, then need to learn what it had to do to trigger each of those individual words/phonemes. Now if you sat it out and all of a sudden for the next three hours it started spewing out sounds, and then suddenly produced intelligent conversation I'd say go for it. That would give you an idea that something was there trying to learn how to use it.

In the meantime that $199 is buying a lot of entertainment for the manufacturer.

My team and I are getting one of these within the next couple days. If you plan on getting one, I suggest you order it now. The manufacturer wont be making any more after this year. The way I kind of look at it is it's a Magic Eight ball that you bring in to a room and shake up to get a random answer, only it's the energy in the environment doing the shaking of the device. I'm not expecting a lot of success with this thing, but hopefully what little we do get will prove useful.

I bought the last Ovilus FX about a month ago or so.

I haven't used it much because I haven't been on any investigations recently. When I first turned it on it said about 4 or 5 random words and then said my name. I turned it off, but then later that night I was showing it to a friend and it said, "mom", and then my friends name. That was two weeks to the day after his mom passed.

I just think that's a little too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence.

I'm meeting with the paranormal group that I'm a member of this coming weekend and hopefully there will be some new investigations coming up in the future, and I will definitely bring the Ovilus FX.

RE: Ovulus?
Right on, man. Let me know how it goes. Assuming our unit has arrived, we will be experimenting with it this weekend at a client's home. I'm suprised you were actually able to get actual names out of this thing, for I didn't think names would be in the device's vocabulary. Now I'm REALLY starting to get psyched about it!

This was with the Ovilus FX which may have a bigger vocabulary, I'm not sure. But it was very clear.... my name shortly after I first turned it on, then later, the words "mom" and then "Scott" -- and Scott's mom had died two weeks before to the day.

Keep us posted on what your experience with it this weekend is, too!

RE: Ovulus?
So I finally got my hands on the Ovulis last night at our weekly meeting. Our model is the Ovulis 1, so you're right, yours might have a totally different set up. It has 512 words in the vocabulary. I actually had an interesting experiance with ours after only having used it for a couple of moments. The house we meet at is reportedly very active, so I had a good opportunity to try it out right away. When I first turned it on it spit out some random words which I expected. The staircase leading up to the second floor is often hit by the smell of lavender, which is one of the signs there is activity. I went to the bottom of the staircase and was instantly hit by the smell. As I put my foot on the bottom step, the device said 'step'. As I ascended the stair case it said 'stairs'. It was as if the Ovulis was reading my body movement, but that is not one of the functions of the device so I can't say I can explain that!

The Ovilus FX has 1024 words programed in the dictionary. It was in dictionary mode both times when it said my name and also when it said, "mom" and then "Scott".

Neither "mom" or "Scott" are programmed in, though. It came with a pdf of the list of words programmed in, and neither of those 2 words are on the list.

So I don't know how it came up with those words. Especially since they are not programmed into the devise.

RE: Ovulus?
I'm starting to believe the Ovulis in itself has paranormal properties of it's own. I later thought about some of the words I had heard come from the device and there is one word in particular that I KNOW isn't part of the vocabulary. Anyway, keep me posted on your findings! Do you guys have a web site?
